'Have a Nice Day' with Eat to the Beat
When the Stereophonics began the UK leg of their European tour in November 2003, they called on the services of their favourite tour caterers Eat to the Beat and chef Tommo.

Eat to the Beat have looked after the nutritional requirements of the Stereophonics on tour for several years, with Tommo becoming a good friend to the band and their taste buds! This recent tour covered 28 gigs in total, completing 18 dates in the UK, with its grand finalé in the band’s hometown at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. The UK dates began with rehearsals and shows in Dublin at the beginning of November.

Eat to the Beat supplied the equipment and staff required to cover the crew and artist catering for both rehearsals and show days, led by Head Chef Tommo and team leader Soozie Coll across the tour, with Al Hayes and Danny McGregor leading the team in Cardiff. Local staff were contracted when required, with the team catering for more than 100 hungry crewmembers across the three meal times. The day’s menu included a full cooked English breakfast, a buffet selection of hot and cold choices for lunch and a selection of hot dishes for dinner with chicken, fish and vegetarian options.

Eat to the Beat also catered for the artist’s dressing rooms ensuring individual requests were met, which across the tour included various support bands of the Stereophonics such as Feeder, Ocean Colour Scene and Tim Burgess.

Due to Eat to the Beat’s experience working at venues across the country, they were able to plan ahead and inform (the client) of certain technicalities with the facilities at the venues. At Belfast, they identified the lack of gas facilities, which then allowed preparation prior to the event. Eat to the Beat were able to supply equipment suited to the venue due to their extensive range of gas and electric specialist catering equipment.

The Stereophonics Tour Manager, Neil McDonald commented: “We have been on the road all year doing either live show’s or promos and having the Eat to the Beat team along with us on shows improves the mood and the food. They are an essential ingredient in our team!”
