The Corrs
bank on Canegreen Commercial for great sound |
| |
Canegreen Commercial supplied the
sound system for the Deutche Bank ‘High Yield’ conference party this
June in the glorious setting of London’s Hyde Park.
Following the serious conference business the 500 delegates enjoyed
the Corrs ‘unplugged style’ set, with Canegreen Commercial’s Managing
Director Andrew Frengley designing a system that drew heavily on the
groups experience in the music industry. “Our approach was to
install a pa more akin to a concert system than a corporate sound
system, to suit the show,” Andrew explained. “From a design aspect
that was easier for me as we relied on Meyer stereo stacks flanking
the stage. The Meyer system lends itself very well to the dynamics
of the acoustic set, so the clarity of the music was exceptional on
the night.”
Sister company Canegreen has worked with the Corrs for several years,
and the bands’ engineer’s familiarity with the team and the system
meant they were very comfortable. The acoustic format for this show,
which included bringing in an eight-piece orchestra, did mean a few
adaptations from the Corrs usual stage set up. Front of house engineer
Max Bisgrove explained: “The band like a reasonable sound level on
stage, so we put the orchestra behind Perspex screens and used Acusound
mics to bring up the level of the orchestra. There can be a lot of
potential pitfalls on a show like this but Canegreen Commercial made
the whole experience very simple and relaxed for us all, it really
was a stroll in the park!” |

Having consulted with Max prior to the show Canegreen Commercial supplied a new British manufactured Aztec mixing console to control the front of house sound.
“The desk gave me a lot cleaner sound than a lot of other boards and the eq was very nice, it was ideal for this kind of show,” Max commented after the event.
The Corrs usually use in-ear monitors on stage, but to allow the band to get the feel of the orchestra on this show Canegreen Commercial supplied Meyer UM1 wedges, which engineer Mini Moore controlled with a Midas XL4 console.
The party was organised for Deutche Bank by Sound Advice, who have built a reputation for booking high profile artists for corporate clients. Having booked the Corrs, they were also the event managers, utilising some of the infrastructure being put in place for the Prince’s Trust ‘Party in the Park’ concert taking place in July. Bringing in some of the UK’s best production suppliers, director and production manager James Cobb explained:
“We are still unique, in that after 22 years in business, we understand the different attitudes and cater for the requirements of the corporate clients and the bands who are used to the music industry. Canegreen Commercial are similar to us in that manner, professionalism and excellence are central to our ethos, they seem to share that and have been a key member of our events team for some time now.”
As the crystal clear sounds of the closing notes of the Corrs unique brand of Celtic pop floated into the contemporary black and white environment in the marquee (created by designer Hattie Spice), the rapturous audience reception paid testament to all concerned, that the music industry and corporate industry could come together to create a magical experience for those lucky enough to be present. |
