De Boer Structures
has won a second major event industry award for its role at the
2003 MTV Europe Music Awards.
The company received the PERTEXA award for ‘Project of the Year’
after winning acclaim for creating the MTV ‘village’ in Edinburgh
for the famous pop extravaganza that was broadcast to over a billion
people around the world.
The Performance Textiles Association (PERTEXA) is the new name for
the Made Up Textiles Association (MUTA) and is designed to highlight
the best in textile performances.
Centrepiece of De Boer’s structures at MTV was the company’s giant
New Galaxy structure, which formed the auditorium for the lavish
musical spectacular - seating over 6,000 people. It is the largest
of De Boer’s extensive range of 85 different temporary structures
and was the first time it had been constructed to its full size
in the United Kingdom.
De Boer UK Managing Director Theo den Bieman was at the PERTEXA
gala dinner in Coventry on Tuesday, March 2, to receive the award.
It came just weeks after the New Galaxy had won The Event Services
Association’s ‘New Product of the Year’ title.
Mr den Bieman said: “The New Galaxy is ideal for major events that
attract large audiences. I am delighted that the events industry,
through these marvellous awards, recognise the quality of this unique
product.”
It has been a tremendous start of 2004 for De Boer, the world’s
leading supplier of temporary structures. Apart from the UK accolades,
the company’s US arm, De Boer Vinings, won a Special Events Magazine
Gala Award in Las Vegas for ‘Best Tent Installation’ after the company’s
Delta System structure made its first appearance in America.
